Speaking up has become an essential part of my artistic journey.

In 2021, I ventured beyond the film festival stage and spoke at the Conference on World Affairs in Boulder, Colorado.  I was honored to be invited back in 2022, and I continue to embrace speaking as a way to share perspective, build community, and expand the conversations my films begin.

Recently, this practice has extended to social media, where I speak openly on Instagram (@elenagaby_) about parenting and the complexities, joys, and vulnerabilities of early motherhood. This digital storytelling has become another space for connection—one that allows me to engage directly and authentically with a wider audience.

I also write on Substack, exploring memory and my lifelong experience documenting my own family in Brazil. This reflective writing deepens my creative practice and continues the personal storytelling that has shaped my work since I first picked up a camera.
